As with all assignments, students do best when they understand the success criteria. Consider co-creating a ‘Guide to Success‘ as part of the learning process, when asking students to craft their own poetry.
Connections can be made between poetry and your exploration of hybrid texts! After students research a concept (for another subject area perhaps), ask them to write a word collection poem or ballad to share their research in an interesting way.
