The Consortium consists of one provincial office (Consortium provincial francophone), which serves the Francophone education community and supports the regional office work in French Immersion and French as a Second language, and six regional offices that work with school authorities in their region.
Since 1995, we’ve cultivated a professional learning network that supports Alberta’s educators as they pursue optimal learning environments for their students. All seven offices leverage technology and collaborative planning to make learning opportunities available across the province.
With an experienced team of experts in every aspect of Alberta’s curriculum, we teach and learn alongside our ‘colleagues in the field’ to ensure we are providing barrier-free access to resources that are relevant, practical, and adaptable.
Prior to July 2024, our organization was known as the Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortium (ARPDC).
Serving as the Provincial Executive Director for The Consortium, Todd Robinson is responsible for direct communication with CASS, liaison with Alberta Education, and overseeing the operation and coordination of efforts of the six regional and provincial Francophone offices.

To provide high quality professional learning opportunities for Alberta’s educational community.
Adult learning for students’ sake
The provincial education vision and recent trends in education provide a road map for The Consortium (Alberta Professional Learning Consortium) to be responsive and work in a collaborative, coordinated manner, continuing to design and deliver cost-efficient professional learning opportunities to Alberta educators.
The Consortium strives to assist and prepare educators in Alberta by providing learning opportunities designed to support adult learning for students’ sake. The Consortium provides professional learning opportunities through funding from Alberta Education, fee for service contracts, grant specific work, and cost recovery offerings that are in alignment with The Consortium foundational statements, and are responsive to the needs of provincial and local K-12 education stakeholders.
Each professional learning opportunity designed and delivered is intended to support dynamic professional learning that positively impacts teaching and learning across the province.
The Consortium is grounded by six foundational statements, which were formerly goals provided by Alberta Education with the inception of the ARPDC in 1995.
The Board of Directors of the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS) serves as the Governance Board for The Consortium.
CASS engages a Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC) of Education Partners to assist in and support The Consortium mandate. The PAC is based on the direction from the Minister to “broaden the spectrum of educational partners” at the provincial level, ensuring the contributions and recommendations of The Consortium Advisory Committee are recognized and considered.
