Developing a unit for teaching writing can be intimidating. Using the tools provided, and having a selection of mentor texts at hand, can simplify the process.
An exemplar unit including the assessments has been provided for Grade 2 realistic fiction; however, the process is the same no matter what grade you are teaching. The unit can be for a particular genre or author’s craft move that you would like to study with your students.
