In this session, Patrick Bohnet of the Central Alberta Regional Consortium (CARC) takes a group of parents attending the Alberta School Council Association conference through an overview of the curriculum as it relates to Physical Education and Wellness (PEW is the acronym used by Alberta Education and Teachers…and likely a few parents who have spent time in a gym) During the presentation Patrick will share some background from the Ministerial Order for Education 2020 focusing on some of the skills highlighted in that document and where they can be found in the new PEW curriculum.
Patrick also walks participants through some of the work CARC and others have done to examine differences between the 2007 curriculum and the 2022 curriculum while exploring the foundational Organizing Ideas of the curriculum that span all grades in Physical Education and Wellness.
