Copyright and Licenses of Resources

Contributors to the APLC Curriculum Resources site agree to license their original work under the following Creative Commons License: CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0. Copyright is still retained, however, users of the APLC site are permitted to publicly share and modify the work provided they adhere to the terms of the license: they must give appropriate attribution, commercial use is not permitted (including posting on paid lesson platforms), and they must re-share under the same license terms. Do You Have the Right to Contribute?  For works created within your employment, verify that your Division has provided permission for licensing them within the terms of this site*. Please also ensure every appropriate step has been taken to be copyright compliant in your submission, including:

  • Respect creators and copyright holders. Collaboratively created works should be submitted under a group name (eg. APLC Staff). Recognition of creators and contributors should be provided somewhere in the resource unless they request otherwise.
  • Reference and cite any materials that inform your ideas. Direct excerpts should only be used with publisher/creator permission or if under an open license/public domain.
  • Use a link in your document or on your site if incorporating existing material that is not openly licensed or in the public domain. Verify licenses by scrolling to the bottom of a page or reading the terms & conditions and include attribution/ a link to the license as needed.
